Create Sacred Space for Conscious Transitions is an educational organization whose mission is to train people as guides for the dying and their families. The Art of Death Midwifery™ workshops and trainings are open to all people at all levels of interest. Our community outreach program offers lectures and workshops to churches and religious organizations of all traditions, hospitals, hospices, nursing homes, community organizations and any group interested in learning more about Death Midwifery and how it might serve their specific needs.
We are in the process of developing a certified training and apprenticeship program in the Art of Death Midwifery for the serious student. In addition, a book on the philosophy and techniques for Spiritual Death Midwifery is in the works. In the future, we will produce original music for vigiling as well as instructional DVDs for those unable to attend our workshops or lectures.
In time we would like to see the Art of Death Midwifery offered to all who choose it. We envision creating a model refuge where people, who might otherwise be alone at this most profound moment in their lives, may come to make their transition with great support, deep love and the opportunity for transformation. Once created, we hope that this model will be offered worldwide as an alternative choice for the end of life experience.
Our purpose is simple: by practicing the Art of Death Midwifery, we perform a type of Karma Yoga; that of service and pure intention to uplift the life and death of others.
