Help for Aspiring Death Midwives

April 22nd, 2010

I sent this to those subscribed to my mailing list. Now I want to get the word out to all who might be interested:

It has been a time of transition for me since writing the book. For 18 years I sat at the bedsides of the dying, slowly being instructed by them and by my inner teachers on creating and distilling a teachable method of being present to the dying with complete unconditional acceptance and love for whatever transpires. A method for linking up with the one dying, virtually swimming in their stream of consciousness to communicate beyond words, and walk as far as possible, the road with them.

Then came workshops and sharing with groups what I have learned. Finally, the book. After years of personal study and service, inner instruction, blood, sweat and tears, the book was published. And something shifted…

The nature of my personal work is changed. It is time now for me to lend support to those who have read the book and want or need mentoring on this path of service so desperately needed in this world.

This is my offer…To those who have read the book, I will offer mentoring, via email and at times, if needed, by phone. I can guide you in additional reading, through volunteering for hospice, with honing your skills, and by empathically listening to your concerns, questions and experiences. I will walk with you on your path of service to the dying.

There is no charge for this service, though those who are touched to do so may make a donation to help support the website and its work by going to the “Support Death Midwifery” page.

What I will require before beginning ongoing consultation, is for you to write a brief essay, 250 words or so, on your reaction to the book. What stood out to you, what questions did the book inspire…that kind of thing.

I hope this offer will help those truly dedicated to this path of service to make the next step.

Peace, shalom, namaste,

Joellyn
